Apple is in talks with Sharp Corp. for organic LED displays to be used on the next generation of iPhones, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed people with knowledge of the matter.
Citing a person familiar with the matter, the report said that a possible OLED supply agreement would depend on the Sharp’s output capacity.
The source also said that Apple wants to increase the number of suppliers for OLED screens, the report stated.
Sharp earlier said that it plans on investing JPY57.4 billion ($566 million) for the development of OLED production facilities, and aims to start output by June 2018, the report added.
